Hypocrites.

A life of peace,
And seasoned words,
Straightforward rebuke,
But graciously.

A path of justice,
And good works,
Taking care of orphans,
And the marginalised.

An attitude of patience,
Lacking anger,
Willful lust,
And wrong desires.

Dependable,
Strangely obedient,
Submissive to authorities,
Unless scarred in conscience.

He does not bribe,
He does not cheat,
He does not lie,
Nor partake in gossip.

Always considerate,
Of other people,
In meeting set time,
Or promised deeds.

But who is perfect?
Certainly not Christians,
We too are hypocrites,
To the principles we confess,
But do our human failures,
Make the Bible,
Any less the Word of God?

The difference is,
By His grace,
Every day,
We become less and less,
A hypocrite;
That is the goal.
