Chasing Maturity.

What is maturity?

Being calm in times of turbulence;
Though with consequences unknown,
Fear-driven, anger-stricken,
Treasure stolen, credits taken,
Slandered, accused,
Tarnished reputation;
Knowing that it's all petty,
So long as throughout you've kept your integrity;
Shifting from self-focus,
Your peace rests,
In God.

Being generous with gracious words,
Not assuming external honour,
Not for conceit, nor self benefit,
But for the sake of the one who receives.

Being donned with humility,
Admitting faults genuinely, transparently,
Not comparing, but respecting,
Unafraid to share life without tinting.

Being gentle in action,
Considering the consequences,
Seeing through others' lenses,
Prioritising others' interests,
Without wearing out,
Although tired,
Complaining inwardly,
"Why haven't I done better?"

Being dependable,
Carrying the load of taken responsibilities,
Accountable to authority.

Maturity;
Is not the absence of fun,
But the absence of selfishness.

Dare I say,
That it is possible to be wise while immature?
This remains,
Unbeknown to me.

But even more apparently,
If we could call this a hypothesis:
How can you be mature without wisdom?
And is it possible to be wise without depending on God?

Not to me.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
To the theory, I agree as conclusion.

But my words alone are just annotations,
Don't trust me;
Look at lives in which the formula has been proven.

Can you be mature yet unwise?
Can you be wise yet immature?
I wonder.

When chasing, suddenly everything feels sober.
