Words spoken out,
Behind my head,
A hint of doubt,
I do believe,
But still somehow,
This uncertainty comes from questions unanswered.
I know You are God,
And I know You heal,
But I don't know why,
No matter how much some kneel,
Their prayers go unanswered.
Can we demand,
Pray with guarantee,
For something we can't control,
To be part of Your Will?
But it's clear that we can't,
Pray with doubt,
Because James has said,
Don't expect to get anything like that.
And You have shown,
Through Abraham and Moses,
That You do change Your Will,
Because You listen.
In Your story You said,
To keep coming in faith,
Will You find it when You come back,
Perseverance for a just plea?
How do we pray then?
Pray believing,
Pray relying,
Pray expecting,
Pray unreservedly,
Pray continuously,
Pray knowing He will show up.
But even if You don't;
I don't know why,
I don't know why;
Still, my hope is You alone,
Knowing full well,
You will do what is best,
Even if now, we don't understand.
