I made a mistake,
To open my mouth,
At a time I thought opportune,
Since you were hardly to be seen,
And this had to be addressed;
About a month it had been.
My words sounded tart,
It provoked your proud heart,
But I admit that I had jumped to the main,
Before serving the appetiser.
And so I apologised,
For skipping concern,
If it is counted,
As an apology,
"I want to apologise for earlier",
To which you said "Whatever",
And I said "Okay",
In hindsight,
I probably should have ended with "Sorry",
Now my conscience is uneasy,
What a half-baked apology,
Like my failed chocolate lava cake,
Last night, that I ate,
Just before speaking with you.
