mom's nor dad's
Fully formed as
dust and flesh
Second after
whom we know
as Adam
Placed in a surrogate
till the moon
would reach its full state;
when time is due
Out of a woman he came
as a seed
from a fruit
Since not of man
Not under the curse
so that he has
authority
to lay down
and take up
his own life
Yet as man
he was subjected to
the same temptations
Yet submitted to
none
That is why he was
a righteous
man
worthy to redeem
his own kind
He was the closest
and only one
And as all seeds do
he died
and brought life anew
growing into a tree
as he said the Kingdom would be
And with thanksgiving
his broken flesh
and poured out blood
renewed a covenant
and multiplied
the bread of life
for all who would
eat of it
The suzerain
still protects
The lesser vessel
called to love
as vertical
and horizontal
as the blood-washed cross.
